Lynn Hasenkam

Every morning I burrow out from under my doona, lie back and luxuriate in the birdsong that fills the air. I can identify some of the singers but there is such a mish mash of melody and twittering its almost impossible, so I let it just wash over me and fill my soul.

Apart from the joy they bring, birds are an early warning system, alerting us to changes in the environment, habitat loss, rising sea levels and environmental destruction.

I respond with whimsy rather than rhetoric because humour may provide a better mirror than empty words in the end.
