At 88 I’m facing the reality of old age for an artist when the body’s mechanisms won’t co-operate with the mind that still has the same enthusiasm and interests but can’t follow through. Expression was always something that flipped off the brush when I was in the landscape. I need to be in those wild places I’ve drawn and painted all my life in order to get the feel of the place. However, the reality now is that I can’t do that. I’m determined to keep making art though and am currently bringing my studio into the house.
