Images of Tasmania

Max Angus was,at 102, Tasmania’s most senior artist, working and exhibiting until his death earlier this year. His significance to Tasmanian art was acknowledged in a large retrospective exhibition of his work in a variety of mediums shown at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery on the occasion of his 90th birthday. His commitment to art, environmental issues and keeping up his painting practice was inspirational, and proof that art indeed guarantees ‘a fortunate life’. Max exhibited and supported Images of Tasmania over many years and we mourn his passing.
