I work in dry pastel medium, using both hard and soft pastels - usually in combination. 

I prefer a square format and small in scale.   The work is usually begun in the landscape, then brought back to the studio for refinement. 

Spray fixative is used during the process to facilitate layering of pigment, but I do not fix the finished work as I find it dulls the colour. 

Composition and colour are the main focus of my work.”
