My unique state monoprints are about the plant species that self-establish within fringe urban sites. Drawing back to the traditional nature printing practices and catalogue of the herbarium, I have created the works through printing directly with plants gathered from such nipaluna/Hobart sites. Each work was taken through repetitions of printing and over printing: offset print over ghost print, following imprint. Tonalities darken and diminish, impressions nuance, implied layers of time infiltrates papers. In applying the sensitivity of response usually reserved for culturally valued botanicals to weed species, I bestow notions of value and highlight their claiming of urban spaces.
