LORIS WALLER (1939 - 2025)
Loris was an original Images of Tasmania member active in its initiation in1998. Her continued passion and dedication underpinned Images for many years. Training here 1957-59, she was an inspirational art teacher in Tasmania and South Australia. Originally a painter, her mature practice in sculpture explored the aesthetics of objects and materials found in antique havens, junk shops and whatever sites might yield weathered and rusted ‘finds’ bearing the histories of ordinary/extraordinary people and ideas. Her favourite foraging was in two Adelaide treasure troves she called Poshside and Cheapside. All works borrowed from private collections
