Mine has been a lifetime of making, appreciating and facilitating art for others over decades as art educator. I’ve seen art enrich so many lives and contribute to mental and emotional wellbeing. This year I’ve relied particularly on its therapeutic, sanity preserving potential. I’ve been painting back into old things, trying to rescue where possible and enjoying solving some of the problems previously shelved. Perhaps more significantly I’ve reflected on much loved works by others and in both pursuits recalling a favourite Proustian quote:


‘the real journey of discovery consists, not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes’
