Julie Todd
Julie Todd’s inspiration comes from Tasmania’s coastal waters. Blends of blues and tonal ranges, the marks and folds on the printed paper reference an endless range of moods.
Julie has developed a method of monoprinting that imbues her one-off images, usually printed through several steps, with barely controlled abstract elements. Sometimes they might suggest a painterly seascape with a big horizon with turbulent water or the surface of a calm rockpool.
The familiar and sequential steps in the printing process are contemplative and Julie becomes immersed in the process and that wild, exciting or peaceful place once again.
