Susan Lacey

The two works I present in this show are part of the body of work created for my Honours degree this year. This work reveals my feelings of failure and shame around motherhood in the face of autism spectrum disorder and severe mental illness in my now adult son. Creativity has been my lifeline, allowing me to move away from a morass of powerless unhappiness. The aesthetic pleasure and relaxing mindfulness of making, and the confession and connections available through the final work, have supported resilience and happiness in my life.
