I am a sixth generation Tasmanian with both colonial and convict heritage. My art making synthesises both my emotional response to the natural environment and my formal knowledge of geography, geology, history, feminism and social justice in a painted form. I see my art making as revealing the complex interactions between the materiality of a place and the ideas and practices that inform what we see and how we re/construct it. From this standpoint we can choose to act differently. For me this represents the restorative power of reconciliation and renewal.
